Interactive
Metronome
What is Interactive Metronome
(IM)?
Everything
the human brain does require very precise timing. This unconscious
capability is critical to the brain’s ability to plan and sequence thoughts
and actions and connects them to their consequences. Thus “natural timing
is an important foundation of our ability to attend, learn, process
information, and physically execute actions. The Interactive Metronome (IM)
System which is result of years of rehabilitation technology, research and
development is the only modality to systematically use sounds and repetitive
physical motion exercises to help individuals improve their underlying motor
planning and sequencing or timing ability.
Effects of
Interactive Metronome?
Interactive metronome impacts three key aspects of human functioning; timing
and synchronization, information processing, focus and concentration. These
can include areas such as:
-
Precise physical movement
-
Effective motor planning and coordination
-
Processing and organization of information
-
More
accurate recall of information
-
Maintain focus for extended periods of time
-
Apply
intense focus when needed
Who can
benefit from IM treatment?
IM
treatment has been used to help children diagnosed with:
A growing
number of practitioners in over 1700 clinics, hospitals, and schools are
using IM programs to improve their client’s overall cognitive and physical
functioning.
IM
Neuromotor Rehabilitation has been shown to improve:

How do I start a Therapeutic
Listening program with NTS?
If you are a client
receiving therapy at NTS, please ask your NTS service provider for an
information packet and order forms. If you need to find a certified
Therapeutic Listening instructor, ask the NTS receptionist to schedule a
sound therapy assessment for you. At that time you will complete an
introductory interview and a comprehensive assessment to determine if sound
therapy is appropriate for your child’s needs. The family is responsible for
purchasing equipment needed. The family must choose to either purchase each
of the CD’s or pay the one time rental fee to NTS for the "lifetime" use of
the CD lending library at NTS. The initial CD will be issued once the family
has purchased the headphones and portable compact disc player A follow up
consultation will be scheduled by the certified provider in order to assess
your child’s response and progress
